We are members of the (African American Descendants of America's Slaves) Muslim Community in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. I became a member of the Nation of Islam after I visit one of the Temples before being sent to Vietnam. We are members of the (African American Descendants of America's Slaves) Muslim Community in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. I became a member of the Nation of Islam after I visit one of the Temples before being sent to Vietnam. After a tour of 1 year I returned and began my effort to become a member of the Nation of Islam. After the Honorable Elijah Muhammad's passing in 1975, I continued my practice with his son Wallace D. Mohammed. In 1995 I began slaughtering Cattle and every now and then I slaughter a few Lambs and Goats. The next step was to have meat processed. I drove each week through the City of Philadelphia and nearby Cities to build the interest in Halal as the way we should be having our food, particularly our meats. The goal was to service our Community as others were doing but ours were to be Halal only. Thanks to Imam Ali Muslim of Masjid Muhammad in Newark, New Jersey, who put me in direct contact with Imam Warithud Din Mohammad. He liked the meat products, and we had a number of discussions from that point on.
